Level 3 Safeguarding Support Officer: THE ROLE

The Level 3 apprenticeship standard prepares individuals to assist designated safeguarding leads in protecting vulnerable populations. A safeguarding support officer serves as the initial contact for safeguarding concerns, conducting risk assessments and directing issues to the appropriate personnel or agencies. They are responsible for maintaining accurate documentation of decisions and advice, ensuring compliance with national and organizational policies for secure information management.

  • Who Should Pursue This Apprenticeship

    An employee in this occupation interacts with staff and volunteers in their organisation, service users and members of the public as the first point of contact for raising safeguarding concerns. Safeguarding support officers will also interact externally with investigative statutory agencies. A safeguarding support officer will report into the designated lead for safeguarding within their organisation.


Duration

This Apprenticeship is typically completed in 18 months.
