RETAIL MANAGER: THE ROLE

Managing staff, their work and sales within a retail environment.


Retail managers are responsible for delivering sales targets and a positive experience to customers that will encourage repeat custom and loyalty to the brand / business.



It is a diverse role that includes leading and developing a team to achieve business objectives and work with a wide range of people, requiring excellent communication skills. Maximising income and minimising wastage are essential to the job and therefore individuals must develop a sound understanding of business and people management principles to support the achievement of the vision and objectives of the business.


Retail managers champion the way for personal development, training and continuous improvement, encouraging their team to develop their own skills and abilities to enhance business performance and productivity.

    • Principles of Health and Safety, Trading standards, Data protection, corporate and social responsibilities.

    • Mock End Point Assessments

    End Point Assessment (after at least 12 months and successful completion of the above)

    • Retail business project, focusing on an medium term improvement
    • Professional discussion, based on period of learning and self development

    This apprenticeship has been designed for retail managers who guide and coordinate the work of their team to complete tasks, identify and explore opportunities to drive sales, ensure that business standards and procedures are maintained and to support the delivery of exceptional customer service.

Duration

This apprenticeship is typically completed in 13 months.

Delivery

Delivered online with remote support from Rewards Training throughout the apprenticeship.

Progression

Progression from this apprenticeship would be into a retail store 

manager, senior retail manager, or area manager role.
