BUSINESS ADMINISTRATOR: THE ROLE

Business Administrators contribute to the efficiency of an organisation, through support of functional areas, working across teams and resolving issues as requested. The role may involve working independently or as part of a team in developing, implementing, maintaining and improving administrative services. 

ABOUT THIS APPRENTICESHIP

  • Qualification Topics

    • Multiple IT packages skills and solutions, including updating and reviewing databases, record information and produce data analysis 
    • Record and document production including supporting others in producing documents and confidentiality compliance 
    • Decision making based on sound reasoning and dealing with challenges or seeking advice 
    • Communication skills-face to face, telephone, writing or digital platforms-using appropriate channels 
    • Planning and organising skills, taking minutes and creating action logs 
    • Improvements to working practices and implications beyond the immediate environment 
    • Current and relevant legislation including data protection, compliance, health and safety 
    • Organisational policies and key business policies relating to sector 
    • Business fundamentals such as managing change, business finances and project management

    • On and off the job skills training 
    • Level 1 and Level 2 Functional Skills in English & Maths 
    • Project improvement support and preparation 
    • Planning, Target Setting and Feedback 
    • Mock End Point Assessments 

    End Point Assessment (after at least 12 months and successful completion of the above)

    • 60 min Knowledge test (multi-choice questions)
    • 30-45 min Structured Portfolio -based interview
    • 20-30 min Project Improvement presentation
    • The overall grade is based on the combination of performance in all assessment activities

    Business Administrators gain highly transferable knowledge and skills that can be applied in all sectors. 


    This apprenticeship has been designed so apprentices deliver their responsibilities efficiently and with integrity, showing a positive attitude. The role involves demonstrating strong communication skills (both written and verbal) and adopting a proactive approach to developing skills. The business administrator is also expected to show initiative, managing priorities and own time, problem-solving skills, decision-making and the potential for people management responsibilities through mentoring or coaching others.  

Duration

This Apprenticeship is typically completed in 15 months.

Delivered online with remote support from Rewards Training throughout the apprenticeship.
