FOOD & BEVERAGE TEAM MEMBER: THE ROLE

A Food and Beverage Team Member serves food and drinks, greets customers, takes payments, and ensures a clean, welcoming environment. It’s a key front-of-house role and a great starting point in the hospitality industry.

ABOUT THIS APPRENTICESHIP

Food and Beverage team members work in a range of establishments including restaurants, cafes, counter service, licensed premises, casinos, and coffee shops. They will ensure safe production of food, beverages and other products, and a safe, calm and professional working environment for themselves and colleagues.

    • Serve food and beverages maintaining individual company standards.
    • Use communication effectively when delivering service, adapting communication to individual needs.
    • Maintain a safe, hygienic, and efficient working environment.
    • Following Health and safety, food safety legislation and relevant legislation.
    • Allergens legislation and procedures.
    • Licencing legislation.
    • Personal conduct, behaviour and personal performance.
    • Team working, supporting team members and dealing with complaints or service issues.
    • Use of technology and equipment relevant to own role.
    • Dealing with transactions and payments.
    • Principles of waste management and sustainability.

    • On the job skills training
    • Off the job skills training
    • Level 1 and Level 2 Functional Skills in English & Maths.
    • Support with building Portfolio of evidence
    • Planning, Target Setting and Feedback
    • Mock End Point Assessments

    End Point Assessment (after at least 12 months and successful

    completion of the above)

    • 2 hour Observation with questions (90 min observation time, 30 min questioning)
    • 1 hour Interview underpinned by a portfolio of evidence

    The overall grade is based on the combination of performance

    in all assessment activities, with Pass, Merit or Distinction

    grades.


Duration

This Apprenticeship is typically completed in 13 months.

Delivery

Delivered online with remote support from Rewards Training throughout the apprenticeship.
